In fact, there is one platform that most people disregard, and which might be in fact quite profitable, and that is pda's, anything windows ce / pocket pc based. with the limited amount of programming languages available it might be a worthwile choice. Linux is somewhat doubtfull, but certainly more promising than the amiga. Windows is very popular and thus commercially acceptable (you bet ) if i was fred, i would discontinue amiga support (sorry guys, but money is money) no more 'classical' amiga's are being made, and the userbase is rather limited. from a COMMERCIAL point of view, the amiga is dead (got a 2000 / 68020 laying around somewhere gathering dust). I guess fred deserves all the credit he can get.īut.

What will happen if you could just install MAX OS X on your Intel box? It would be on mine tomorrow.Įdited by - Skully on 07 August 2002 03:17:37 Maybe the New Amiga OS at will take off but its just not getting market penetration like Apple's MacOS X imho. How much exemplification do you need that the AmigaOS is just not it? Then the next company that owned it went under.

The Amiga line that I owned (500, 1000, 4000) was cool, I loved it, programmed in both AMOS Pro and Blitz. the TRS-80 Model I, Apple 2e, Commodore 64 were all cool in thier times too I say that with pride lol. If they could demonstrate all of the staple capabilities such as instant messaging, Importing, Editing and exporting to MS office etc I would be sold. I am still waiting to get an opportunity to just check out a MAX OS X box with that setup myself. Considering the MS Hate on, and Linux feeling teckie and not being more family oriented. If stores would put proper demos up without the keyboard being locked I think it would do even better. 99,00.html is looking sweet too.Īlready MacOS X has really awakened people to the Mac environment.

08,00.html processor (unconfirmed as yet but from a reliable source) rather than the PowerPC so that may be significant news. I hear that Apples next version of the MaxOS will be based on the new AMD Hammer. Mac WOULD be a better development target than Amiga IMHO Fred and here is why:

Please ignore previous verbal spew I must have been thinking Darwin for the unix component.Īnyway. The MacOS X IS based on BSD ( so my argument is crap.
